I was reading about that yesterday. The article I read did point out that traditionally the larger lense does go to the front....however, once you look through the thing, you should have known something was off

The armorer or such on his vessel dis, but he is looking thru it and lens cap is closed.
One who has ever looked thru a scope would instantly know something is wrong. And that its black with cap on..

I bet that armorer, or whatever his is title is, got into a jam. Still you would think a Navy Commander would notice the scope was mounted backwards and couldn't see through it.
