I got this email from Smith & Wesson today documenting Jerry Miculek's world record with a revolver on plates. I'm guessing the announcement on May 16th will be the availability of this model revolver to the public. One of the GunTalk Live videos from this year's Shot Show, had a rep from S&W indicating that they would selling copies of the same model Jerry used for setting the record. So that's my guess on what will be announced.

Met him at the NRA convention in Pittsburgh many years ago, got his autograph and we talked for a long time, real nice guy, also met Michael Bain at the Ruger booth, he showed us his personal Ruger’s and we must have talked for over an hour, another fine gentlemen
Good to know he can be met in the flesh. I always assumed he was a replicant given his skills.
As serious as he is about his craft, he is refreshingly also a seemingly big kid who loves his job, something you don't often see in dedicated professionals.
I still watch his Barrett .50BMG sequences. Timed his ROF to almost 400 rpms, or nearly M3 "greasegun" rates, with a semi-auto! In the slo-mo shots of this feat, you can make out his trigger finger actually back off to permit the trigger to reset. That's right, his ROF is limited by the need for him to wait for the gun to catch up to him, not the other way 'round.

I heard him remark once that in a year where he's actively competing, he will load and shoot between sixty & eighty THOUSAND rounds a year in practice. I don't know what the budget for handgun ammo is for an ODA or SEAL team, but I wouldn't bet against Jerry and the gene he apparently inherited from "Popeye" to get those forearms.
