The secret voting to elect thune should be abolished. (R) voters deserve to know who betrayed them...mcconnell and thune both hate President Trump and MAGA. Rick Scott would have been the best choice, a staunch supporter of President Trump. mcconnell wanted to push the vote through before the inauguration.

my question is....if the new senators that were just elected have not been sworn in YET..how can the senate elect new leader? do those new people not get a say

I wish it had been Scott. I don't know enough about Thune. I live in TX. I am a hard corps conservative. I sure am glad Cornyn didn't get it. He is up for re-election in 2 more years. I don't care if Cornyn's opponent is Beto, Whoopie, Oprah, or Robert Deniro. That RINO Cornyn will never get my vote again. I may have to sit out that election.

I don't know about that. Schumer will stab us in the front and smile while doing it. Thune will stab us in the back and giggle. At least Thune might make a mistake and help us, with UpChuck no way, so I guess it could be worse. Do you want to be hung or shot.
OldGrunt. Be careful I said the same thing about Susan Collins. Her last opponent was Secretary of State Shenna Bellows who when head of the legislature, tried to protect a child porn collecting fellow demoKKKrat representative. Just about broke my nose holding it and checking the RINO box.
