When it comes to lube for your guns, there are a lot of options out there.

I'm sure we all have our favorites. Lubes, cleaners/solvents that I stock up on.

Slip 2000
Wilson Combat family of oils and grease
Lucas ED CLP
Seal 1
Hoppes bore solvent
Rem oil ( for knives)

That's not to say I don't have and use others, these are just the ones I stock up on every time I order something or find myself in the gun section of a store.

I've whittled down the dizzying array of products to the following:
Hoppe's Bore Solvent and Gun Medic.
Lucas Oil CLP, Extreme Duty Oil and Grease.
Remoil.

Castrol full synthetic has a higher heat threshold though. I'm not saying it's best for guns. I've never used automotive products on guns. Although I do have unfettered access to tubes of Lubriplate general grease.

I'm not fond of "best" articles. That said, I have a box full of wonderfulness due to chasing those magic lubes and cleaners promised by many. Today I used G96 and some mystery red grease. I tried the Break Free spray before, but got pissed when it refused to spray and I had half a can left. I have used some harsh bore solvents and they have their place. I have some other good products, but I'm not going to the garage to discover their names. Hoppes was my go to solvent from decades ago, but I have used G96 that is described as a CLP product.
