Kali-Key performance and feedback

Anyone use or plan on using a Kali-Key in their AR for any length of time? It seems like an interesting way to make your AR style platform have a little more versatility with legal applications. The initial desire seems to have been a "f**k you" to the insanity that is California's gun laws, but you would be able to hunt with it in states that do not allow semi-automatic weapons for hunting as well.

My concern is primarily on how it blocks the gas operation action. Their website says that the gas is diverted outside the ejection port, but they say that it won't blow anything back to the shooter's face. It looks unclear to me how that is managed and how it supposedly does not let the gases get around the bolt carrier group and cause build up. It is also not able to be used with piston operated systems.

Never seen that before, I don't really need it since there aren't insane restrictions in my state. Hope it works for those who do live there.

I recently discovered the Kali-Key. IMO its a simpler way to keep your AR if you live in one of those socialist states.

Considering that the ejection port is far larger than any small space that exists through the charging handle channel I'll guess that the vast majority of any gas coming through the gas tube would go out that way, especially since the Kali-Key handle has a design to capture the new key in order to chamber a new round. You're still going to have a dirty chamber like a regular AR and the need to clean.

The Kali-Key maybe the future for those states that have the jack-ass Party calling the shots.

You could also get a non-ported AR barrel to go with the Kali-Key and you won't have to deal with any gas issues.

Just removing the gas block will do the same and keep most of the gas out of the upper.

Also allowing the state to seize your weapon would resolve the problem. Doh! SMH

I've heard folks are putting a screw in the gas port to block it off.

Kali-Key suggests that just using their handle but keeping the normal BCG (without any barrel adjustments) will allow the owner to revert back to normal use if/when the person escapes/leaves the oppressing jurisdiction.

Yea, seems like its too easy to go back and forth. But if it works and its what you have to do.

Gas function with the Kali-Key diverts the gases out the ejection port, according to The Daily Shooter, and unless you're a lefty shooting a standard AR, that shouldn't be an issue. If you're a lefty and wanna run a Kali-Key, you need a lefty ejection port IMO.

Hunting statutes rely on established definitions of bolt-action vs semi-automatic. The Kali-Key makes an AR-type rifle into a bolt action by definition (otherwise Commiefornia wouldn't allow Kali-Key-equipped AR's). Therefore I think it would be reasonable to infer that a Kali-Key rifle is a hunting-compliant bolt action. HOWEVER, SOME STATES require that hunting cartridges be of a straight-wall design like the 350 Legend, and outlaw necked cartridges like the .223 or .308 - AS ALWAYS, CHECK YOUR STATE'S LAWS.

And yes, the Kali-Key was designed and is marketed as a big middle finger to socialist infringements on our 2A Rights. Best part is, if you travel between free and slave states you can swap a standard bolt carrier group & charging handle back into your rifle anytime you enter a free state.

You won't have any gas blowing back at you if you install an adjustable block and shut it off. Then you will have a bolt gun that look like an AR. You're having too manually cycle it I guess?

I own and routinely use a Kali key. I have both 5.56 and 7.62x39 uppers and have a dedicated carrier attached to the device. Just have to change the upper, mag and bolt to change caliber. I like it because I’m older and enjoy bolt action rifles. The AR format allows different calibers and since I reload, not flinging cases all over helps logistics. I’m very pleased with the product. If and when CA outlaws semi-auto ARs (remember Biden wants to make Beto O’rourke the Gun Czar and force mandatory gun confiscation (buyback?), hopefully I won‘t lose money invested in ARs.
