Keep the jewels in the safe

Good video, thanks for posting it...:)
I used to be involved in Adrenaline Stress Training and we used a Bullet Man Suit or a Red Man Suit.
These suits protected the wearer against empty hand strikes.

All joking aside, there's a compromise between body armor and mobility. I enlisted in the Marine Corps after Vietnam and we wore the old Flack Jackets and they got heavy especially when training in Okinawa and the Philippines.

As a martial arts guy I wore a jock strap and cup when teaching/training. I also wore a jock strap and cup when wearing a bullet man and red man suits. It's funny to me thinking about the comical things that happened during some of those training sessions...:)

I sometimes wore a jock strap and cup when I did security work. You can layer the protection to where it doesn't restrict mobility too badly.

In my humble opinion body armor, jock straps, forearm leather bands, etc, are just in case, not protection to rely on over good tactics.

Many years ago I dealt with a a-hole former student who had a bad habit of hurting lower belt martial arts students. He showed up at one of my friends martial arts schools during sparring class. He said he wanted to spar and I knew he was going to go for my one of my knees. He was wearing head gear that resembled a baseball catcher's mask.

I normally avoided situations like these but I figured I needed to teach this guy a lesson. Sure enough he went for one of my knees. I was able to avoid the knee strike and I hit him with a right hook to the side of his head that made him drop to the ground. I hit him on the side of the headgear where the gear was weakest. I was wearing 16 ounce leather Boxing gloves made in Thailand(used in Muy Thai).

After I hit him and he dropped, a good bro and fellow black belt told me, "Frank, he's had enough.". So I backed off and he got his gear and left. I never saw him at any of the martial arts schools I sometimes visited to spar. I felt bad for having to hit him like that but I felt like it needed to be done.

The armor he wore was no substitute for good technique.

Attacking a person's legs who is wearing body armor or even when not wearing body armor slows them down and it's not that hard to learn to kick a person's legs. They're usually not wearing body armor there.
I have used leg kicks many times while working in security but also used hook punches, open hand slaps, elbow strikes, forearm strikes, to the side of the head(jaw) or neck(brachial stuns work pretty good...:))

Body armor has a place in a self-defense arsenal, just know the advantages and disadvantages. It's a known fact that in self-defense being able to move to escape or get cover, etc, is very important. Armor that is restrictive and severely limits your mobility is something to really think about before you invest in it(unless you're using it to train others like a Bullet man suit.)

Wouldn't it be....Victoria's Secret Service? ...............Ill see myself out.

Not nearly as exciting a story as yours but I raised three sons and coached a number of years of little league baseball and I always wore a cup. And the title of this thread is a little misleading cause Im pretty sure it should be bullet resistant.
