Four Criteria for Using Deadly Force

Most states follow guidelines that require the suspect to meet four criteria before you can use deadly force against him. They are:
  • INTENT
  • APPARENT ABILITY

It really is pathetic that it has come to this.

The biggest issue I see is there is a disconnect with people that the firearm is a lifestyle change that most don’t realize the severity of being wrong with can bring you. You don’t go home and get a high five from the police like TV.

All 50 states state any force must be “Reasonable” and tie rifle pistol club members aren’t the ones that get to decide!

Why especially Mikitary and LE guys that are retired but everyone should do a class or 2 a year with relevant folks like Rangemaster, Gunsite Hearne Haggard Bolke Ellifritz etc.

AND you should carry OC. I have preached that here before but there are a lot more scenarios where the use of OC is reasonable and a firearm is not!
I hear a lot of folks just by their conversation believe the mere presence of a firearm will ward off evil by itself. And when it doesn’t they have no reasonable means

- ECS, good points all around. Now as to warding off evil, forget relying on ONLY either the holy water (OC), crosses (batons, knives etc) or the silver stake (EDC handgun), instead carry a combo of these. The best defense is to get out of the area if possible and avoid the BGs (vampires, were wolves, progressives) assiduously. If the bad stuff goes down rely on your head before your sword.

I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again, when I was working as a security guard people would go ballistic at the mere sight of my gun in my holster.

I was at work one day checking Gates on a substation actually not too far from my house when some guy rode by me on a bicycle.

Full disclosure He was probably in his 30s and he had some obvious developmental issues The first thing he said to me was "You're at my dad's work." So I knew something was up because that's not something an adult says to another adult.

Then he saw my gun, he went absolutely crazy. He was screaming, he was yelling, he told me he was going to take the gun away and beat the hell out of me.

he must have stopped his bike to have had time to say all that but he was still screaming at me as he rolled down the hill.

I've had people try to take my gun away from me at work. I've had people dare me to shoot them at work.

I've talked about the two guys to try to rob me outside my house one night now the gun never came out of my holster and it was a deterrent but they weren't intimidated. They just decided I wasn't worth the trouble my gun was going to cause. They were laughing when they walked away.

I am absolutely convinced that people don't actually believe you're going to shoot them.

But every single time that I've had to pull out my OC I got instant compliance.

It's a lot easier to justify having OC in your hand just in case than it is to justify having a gun in your hand.
