Lee-Enfield No.4 vs No.1 Rifles

I used to have an Enfield 308. It had been completely redone. Reblued, synthetic sporter stock, glass bedded. It was a great deer rifle.

This was about 20 years ago. My best friend was a smith and he ran into a deal where he was buying these and another Enfield ( possibly 303, does that sound right? ) for like $60 a piece. Then he'd do 'em up and sell 'em. I think I paid $125 for the rifle and that was with a Tasco 3x9 on it. I had some hard times and needed grocery money and sold it to my neighbor for $200. I went to buy it back from him a couple months later and he had already sold it.
