Looking to Get a 308. Which is better the Saint Victor or the M1A1

Hi, in the near future I'm looking to acquire a 308. I'm trying to determine if I should go with the M1A1 or the Saint Victor. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
I own both.
What are you looking to do with it ?
Hunting ?
Range toy ?
Long distance precision?

I like the M1A for distance precision with a nice scope. Bit unwieldy for closer in hunting/ maneuver unless you go a socom model . I have a standard 21” barrel.
The Victor is nice for hunting in some closer quarters with the 16” barrel and nice scope.
Mine is a thermal scoped night time hog hunter.

There is no Springfield Armory M1A1, but all are just M1As in various subtypes.

The only M1A1 is a .30 carbine, and an older version of the Abrams tank. Neither are sold my SA.

Get a Victor since the M1A (a derivative of the M1 Garand) carried over the Garand's eccentricities' which are best learned about after research and time with someone with some mileage with one, vs. being a newbie.

Victor's, and other AR-10-types, are easier to run & maintain. Note: Basically all AR-10's are propriatory since there is no "standard-spec" for any of them beyond they typically use an AR-15 trigger system, the ammo & magazines, with some exceptions.

And the mags are far cheaper than for the M1A.

Don't forget the M1A1 version of the Thompson (fixed "dimple" for a firing pin). ;)

Here's what a genuine M1A1 .30 carbine looks like.

My Bad the M1A1 is a tank so I guess my tanker roots are showing. Long distance and Range toy. woulfd be my primary use but it should also be a good option for my SHTF rifle.
