It’s still a Taurus.

Rather have a RIA.

Mags are worth $200, max (used).

Frankenguns generally just aren’t worth it

Frankengun,,, that is what holds me back from buying it,,,,,,,,, but I could use the mags and dump the gun

So, you turn it around, maybe with 1 or 2 mags, and try to get $300 for it, keeping the other mags.

That’s a lot of work to save maybe $100, on used mags.

The metalforms run $20 a pop; the Wilson $40…just buy fresh mags.

I wouldn’t touch a frankengun built off a Taurus; no way, no how.

I have been watching it for a month,,,,,,,,,, there are so many 1911s for sale all you have to do is wait and watch something worth having will eventually come alng at a reasonible price,,,,,, the Ronin I have was under $600..... that is $100+ less than what I had been seeing them go for,,, you just have to wait for the right time

I say this, and I mean no offense.

But have you ever heard the phrase “you can’t polish a turd”?

Someone tried to polish a turd here.

Spend $400 on some Wilson mags, if you already have a 9mm 1911. You’ll be WAY ahead of the game, instead of having a polished turd.

I wouldn't be keeping the turd just 8 of the mags and at a gunshow I would most likely get most of my money back,,,,,those mags might cost me $50 when said and done,,,,,,,,,, but I am in no hurry to buy anything,,,,,,,,,,,,, I looked for over a year before buying the Ronin

If you wanna roll those dice, roll ‘em.

Speaking as someone who’s done a LOT of wheeling & dealing with guns for the last 25+ years?

That juice is NOT worth the squeeze. Breaking even is the best case scenario.

Then again…making bad decisions is how you learn to make good ones.

Go for it.

This is the way I come at it:

8 Metalform mags, new; $160
1 Wilson 10rd, New: $40.

Used mags are worth, generally, 50% of new value…and if you want them for your own use, you’re gambling that they aren’t dinged, etc.

You’ll have to let at least one go with the gun…so, value is, at best, $95 for the mags you keep. To break even, you’d have to get $330 on the rest.

Then, you’re gambling that this polished turd (and it is a polished turd; Taurus 1911’s are pure crap…and anything built on crap is still crap), that you say has been sitting out there for quite some time, will magically find a buyer, for what you want to get for it, when you flip the turd. For $330.

Nobody will touch it. See: polished turd.

Again? Good luck with that.

I’d try to buy the mags alone for $100; that might be worth it…but the legwork trying to flip it? Losing proposition, no matter how you come at it.

Then you should know a bad deal when you see it.
why do you think I have been only watching it for a month,,, not an original part in the entire gun, it has a barrel that is around $200 9 mags and the cheapest I have seen the Metalform mags is $28,,, you don't spend that much on one and then sell it for about half what you have in it,,,, something is not right here,,, so I just watch,,, I want to see how long it sits out there

I wanted to see what others thought of it and look at the original post,,,,, I say straight out I was interested in the mags

People are gonna see “Taurus” and not care about the rest.

And they’ll be right.

You’re the one trying to argue that it’s worth it.

I don’t see it.

I disagree.
Folks buy polished turds all the time like Kahrs and Hi Points . So a buyer is out there even for polished turds 🙂
