M&P 15/22s Banned At Appleseed Events After Out Of Battery and "Run Away" Discharges

Guess I need to look at the date these articles are done, again, apologies, second mistake I made in past few days, posting on hold now till I find my glasses…..
S&W sent out an Inspection/Recall alert on the bolt / Firearm.
Still good info for those that never knew there may be an issue with a popular firearm .

Were you going back in time again? When are you going to leave the John Connor boy alone?

I posted on this recall early on in this forum's existence, since I have a M&P15-22 that was part of the recall. I called S&W, and was given the option of either sending the bolt in for inspection, or sent a plastic gauge to measure the bolt face myself. I opted for the gauge and tested it myself, which showed the correct depth. I've shot it several times with no problems experienced, it's very accurate and fun to shoot.

Here's my posts (2) on the subject in the past, on what was checked re the bolt face:

Is that just an S&W thing? Had to send wife's 9EZ back to the mother ship for a recall of a purported similar issue. Naturally, at least one person asked what could possibly be wrong with having your gun go full auto. (Please don't feel the need to explain it to me, the comments were tongue in cheek...I think)

This was happening a few years ago. Hopefully they have corrected the problem. This was why I was able to purchase a slightly used one on the cheap. It has worked flawlessly for me since I have owned it. I know a lot of people then purchased the Ruger 10/22 for that program.
