M&P EZ9mm

Bassbob

Emissary
I know there were problems with the EZ .380, although we have over 1500 trouble free rounds through my dad's, and I've read that there were some similar issues with the EZ 9MM. I'm thinking about getting one for the old man, but I was curious if anyone here has one and if they've had any issues with them.

S&W had a major issue with a certain lot of the EZ 9mm that was recalled. I was going to pick one up for my wife until I saw this issue.

I would think by now all those pistols have been dealt with. I would certainly make sure the one I bought wasn't in that lot.

I would be hesitant to pick one up on the pre-owned market and we will probably revisit the EZ Shield as again at some point. Currently my wife carries a Shield 2.0 or S&W bodyguard .380.

@Bassbob, here's a thread that talked about the recall. It looks like some posters have them, or their wives have them. Perhaps they could give you their opinion if you want to reach out to them.

I wouldn't buy very nearly ANY plastic striker gun used. I would make exceptions for certain HKs and Glocks if I liked Glocks, which I don't.

I am a fan of the Shields and have a few.

Thanks brother. I recall that thread. Hopefully @ScottJ will respond. He seems to have a few of them.

Bob, I can tell you from experience, dealers won’t give you any information on there guns if there was or is a recall on them, my suggestion is, go to the S&W site, see what serial numbers are included in the recall, then when you visit the shop, you can check the serial number and make sure it’s one made after the recall.

Great idea Anni. Thanks.

No problem Bob. I remember the thread since I mistakenly thought the EZ's were full size M&P's and not Shields. I own the version 1 M&P's in all calibers and the 2.0 9mm. I also own a Shield 9mm that I put an Apex trigger in and their Performance Center Version 1 Shields in 9, 40 & 45. I handled the 9mm EZ at the LGS, but passed on it, as I had other firearms higher on my wish list. Perhaps one day. I guess you could say I like the M&P series :sneaky: ( I also have their AR15 (M&P15) and their 22lr AR (M&P15-22).
If you pull the trigger so to speak on one, let me know how you like it.

Yep, I like the EZ's. Hands have a bit of arthritis, plus I like the ergonomics of the grip(s). I have two 9's (1 blk, 1 fde), and also have my late wife's 380EZ now. As a matter if fact, I was edc'ng the 380 the past few days. I've not had any problems whatsoever from any of them.

The 9's have had Federal, Remington, S&B, Magtech, and Fiocchi ball ammo (115, 124 grain) run through them with no problems, and also Sig and Federal JHP, with no problems.

The 389EZ has ran Magtech and S&B ball ammo. Sig and Federal JHP; no problems from none of them.

A convenience I also like is that the EZ9's, 380EZ, and even the M&P 22C I have, will all fit the same four holsters I run: Urban Carry LockLeather OWB & IWB, and the We The People IWB, and an OWB paddle holster.

Sorry to hear about your wife Scott, please accept my condolences.

My condolences brother. :-(

That's good to know Scott. I got my dad the EZ 380 for the same reason. He's 80 years old and arthritic. He couldn't rack his 1911s anymore so he gave them to me. He's old school and never trusted the 9mm. Always a .45 guy ( I guess that's where I get it) so I am surprised I got him to tolerate the .380. He has been going on about the EZ9 since they came out. I will definitely be going for a PC version and I need to figure out how to get a RDMS on it for him. I'm glad to hear you haven't had any issues with yours.

Thank you. I also have an SA XDS9 (waffle grip), and an XD Mod2 9. Started with the XDS9 for CC purposes. The XD Mod2 was basically my range and HD piece. I would shoot the EZ .380 at the range when the wife and I went, and found I liked the ergononics of it. Bought the two EZ9's (separate purchases), and then started CC'ng them. Just recently, I luckily found & ordered a limited amount of the Federal Punch .380 85grn, and 9mm in the Punch and Hyda-Shok in 124grn, and run that in the EZ's. Test ran about 6 rounds (to conserve what little I have) of each through them, and they ran fine.

I just put my dad through a CCW class this past weekend. He's got bad arthritis, so he had trouble working the slides on most of my pistols. We were thinking of maybe getting him a revolver, as that's what he carried when he served back in Taiwan. But this happened not too far from where he lives.

Took 10 shots of quality 9mm HP ammo to take down this guy, who returned fire the whole time.

Anyway, looks like M&P EZ is the only offering around. I've heard the Watlher CCP has an easy to operate slide, but I can't find it in stock anywhere.
