ter the U.S. entry into World War II, the Army once again faced the reality that there was a need for a scoped rifle for use by snipers and other marksman on the battlefield. The selection of the M1903A3 instead of the M1903 or M1903A1 as the bolt-action sniper platform provided a rifle needed in numbers to meet war demand.

I have a soft spot for 03A4s. Mine is 100% original from the sling swivels right up to the scope base. It came without a scope or rings. At the time I bought it, the GI scopes hadn't been reproed yet, and originals cost more than I paid for the rifle. I came as close as I could and dug up an old Weaver K3 3X, which IMHO looks pretty appropriate. It shoots about 1.5 MOA and I'm very happy with it.

Nice A4.

I have a nicely done A4 repro. with a HiLux repro scope. I wanted to shoot the vintage matches but none are nearby so I took the small diam scope & rings off and put 1" rings on and a 3x9 1" scope. Shoots well for the design.
