M1A ammo

The non-National/Super Match M1A's are made to run on standard 147/150 gr FMJ, but I've found 168's run well in mine.

Mine likes 168. An online store sent me a couple boxes of Federal GMM 175s instead of 168s by mistake last week so I'll have to see how those do.

Have not shot the 168, but have an entire case, will shoot them tomorrow and see how they do. My Socom loves the 150 Amax

I’ve only run 147gr Portuguese surplus (and a few rounds of AE 150gr FMJ). Both showed good accuracy, so I’m interested in what it will do with either 150 or 168gr SMK’s.

The last time I took my Loaded PRE out with 168gr SMKs it reliably gave me about 1.5" at 200 yds.

Shooting the Hornady's 168 grain for serious target shooting and hunting. But, run Federal's XM80C 7.62 149 for practice.

right now the military surplus as run dry, at least in my area. Hank my guy that runs a military surplus store is tell me that as of now its dry or over priced. I have few 50cal cans of 308 ammo on standby. I also stock up on reloading items of 308. When 1000rds of bullets was priced at $80 for 147gr FMJBT and 308 Tracers was priced cheaper at $60 for 1000rds of 147gr FMJ. The range doesn't let me shoot them, but sometime they get mix into the mag. They light up at 100yds so if you are shooting at 100yds side you are the only one that see them burning in the sand.
