M1A Scout scope rings

3S16

Alpha
I met my first M-14/M1A in 1968 at MCRD Parris Island, but when I went to VietNam in 1969 I was issued an M16. Many times I missed the M14. It was a great battle rifle.
Anyway, after 54 years, in a moment of pure nostalgia, I bought an M1A Scout Squad rifle. It even had a very pretty, well figured, walnut stock.
My old eyes demand a scope. I wasn't interested in a forward mount "scout scope" set up, so I bought and installed a Sadlak aluminum mount. Then I bought a very nice Nikon 30 mm 1X4X24 Tactical scope. I would like to buy the lowest rings possible. I realize I will still need a cheek piece on the stock. I'm not a target shooter. It will be a defensive weapon. Can someone recommend rugged set of low rings that will mount on the Sadlak rail? I've always been a Leupold or Talley kinda guy on my hunting rifles.

Thank You

Thank you for your service and welcome to the forum from Kentucky.
Although I’ve had no luck with Vortex scopes I like there mounting rings and my local Cabela’s always has a good selection of low, medium and high sets, they also have a great return policy if you buy what doesn’t work so you can try something else.
Good luck in your search.

I used the lowest light weight rings available from Night Force

If you want to keep your rear aperture zeroed with the 1X4X24 scope on a Sadlack mount, you'll have watch how low you can go.

Different manufacturers have different interpretations of ring height. There are no height standards.
