Malfunctions: Feed, Extract, Eject — How to Handle Them

In my opinion trainers do not place enough emphasis on clearing stoppages. Most stoppages can be avoided in quality firearms. Improper grip, sub-par guns, poor maintenance, and poor quality ammo all add up to a jam-o-matic. Rarely have I seen a quality gun break but it does happen. You gotta know how to get them running again.

I agree and I think you also have to practice clearing malfunctions on your own if you want to get competent (fast) at it.

In all my training classes whether it be fellow Police Officers or civilians I go over and demonstrate how to clear all types of jams and I make them all do it as well. Experience or skill levels aside I make them all do it. I have been known also to load students magazine with dummy rounds and snap caps. I also have someone load my magazines as well to keep my skill levels on par. Just my two cents.
