How would they calculate his back pay to 1975? 45 years of back pay at E-8 The guy should have a few million in his pockets plus they knew where he was in the 80s and did nothing about it typical of the Democrats when it comes to the Vietnam Veterans who they spit on and called baby killer never forget that.I saw this when looking at the ARMY TIMES:

Lest we not forget that military was not paid very generously back in those days. As an E8 my kids qualified for free school lunches and the etc that were offered to the low income. So I doubt it would come to millions. How would they calculate his back pay to 1975? 45 years of back pay at E-8 The guy should have a few million in his pockets plus they knew where he was in the 80s and did nothing about it typical of the Democrats when it comes to the Vietnam Veterans who they spit on and called baby killer never forget that.
I was a member of the Tonkin Gulf Aero Club. Flew many a combat mission. Worked radio relay. My buddy next door did a tour in 1973 as an infantryman in the Marines, and he still carries some baggage from that tour.
US ARMY 71 -73 Project Phenix was in full swing. Bombing in the north & west was stepped up The '70s was hell because the democrats cut off funding for the WAR and the Democrats protested & spit on us when we came home calling us baby killers. In combat on Tuesday and home that same week no time to adjust many had a hard time adjusting. 58,404 Killed Twice that number wounded .and the biggest wound of all was caused not by enemy bullets but by Democrats spitting & chanting baby killer and saying Vietnam was not a war many were shunned by the veteran's organizations declaring Vietnam was not a War but a conflict. I was medically retired from the US ARMY in 1991 shortly after the Gulf War. I wanted to do the whole 30 but combat injuries took its toll, but I count my blessings every day I am alive many I served with are now gone. With retirement and a 100% rating, I get paid the same as if I were e-9 over 30.My buddy next door did a tour in 1973 as an infantryman in the Marines, and he still carries some baggage from that tour.
$ 161.20 a month back then and $55.00 of that was Jump Pay! but I think he would get all the pay increases he missed. Plus a VA Pension 100% rating and don't forget the book & movie deals.Lest we not forget that military was not paid very generously back in those days. One big interesting point if they knew about him in the 1980's why did the Democrats in power not demand his release?Interesting article.

My Dad served in the early 60s in Germany. When he got home employers assumed he went to Vietnam and some employers would not hire him. Sad.US ARMY 71 -73 Project Phenix was in full swing. Wow some people’s hatred is just amazing. I’m sorry for what he did to you back then that was a Grotesque treatment that you didn’t deserve. I’m happy to hear y’all were able to put it all behind you.Yes, that happened to many Vietnam Veterans & Era Veterans the ones who had the most hate for our Veterans and the Military, in General, were the Democrats they came out with an affirmative action policy in the '80s that discriminated against white males for jobs and promotions in the military as well as civilian life. In 1991 had an interview for Deputy Sheriff and the Sheriff to Wad up & throw a copy of my DD-214 in the trash can after he read aloud some of my awards listed on my DD-214 Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart, Master Parachutist with bronze service star " 1 " .and he screamed at me with a seething hatred with bulging eyes "I DONT WANT NO WAR HERO'S "! I could hardly believe it I was shocked and I said to him I never considered myself a Hero but I did serve among some. I stood up went behind his desk and retrieved my balled up DD-214 from his Trash Can. When I got to my car in the Parking Lot and got in I cried all the way home He was a Democrat Sheriff I should have expected it. Needless to say, a week after the City PD Hired me on Full time with benefits. He contracted cancer a few years ago and I went to visit him at the Hospital and he remembered me and I told him that I forgive him for how he treated me and he broke down and I hugged him and told him I hope he finds peace with God 29 years . Just another unseen wound to add to the rest.
Very painful but I never lost my cool I just went behind his desk and retrieved my balled up copy of my DD-214 and never seen him again until 15 years later when he was dying of stage 4 lung cancer and I went there to make peace with not him but with God.✝ I found out he was a campus leader in WAR Protests in the late 60's early 70's.Wow some people’s hatred is just amazing. 20 years SFC E-7 Retired 29 years agoSorry to hear about all that. So how many yrs did you actually serve, and at what rank? Sounds like you had a heck of a career.
