Always be aware of your surroundings. A couple days a week I contract in an indoor shooting range/store. We have practiced drills for these types of events, but still you have to be aware. At a private outdoor range my wife was watching my 6 as I was adjusting a scope shooting when a stranger basically tapped me on the shoulder. And started asking about the guns. I know all the members and asked him jow he got in. He jumped a fence to “come check on me”. After escorting him off property I was pretty mad and told my wife that a week prior someone else was shot and thier stuff stolen. It was important when I asked her to watch out, I meant watch out. Just any type of warning, and the guy would not have scared the hell out of me.

I pray for a quick recovery for the injured and peace for the families of innocent people who lost their lives. I would like for this story to stay in the news cycle long enough for viewers to learn exactly what happened. We can all gain knowledge that will improve our ability to protect ourselves and others from insightful analysis of these tragic events. Unfortunately, as soon as a story gives any impression that armed citizens save lives, or that attempted mass shootings in places other than gun-free zones have many fewer casualties, the stories seem to disappear from the news cycle. I would be very appreciative if any forum members in the NOLA area could provide updates.

One of the indoor ranges I shoot at has had the same thing happen several times also. Shooter rented a gun, bought the ammo, and shot themselves. Kind of gives me the creeps when I shoot there, knowing which lanes this happened on, and that's the lane they assign me.

My uncle owns a gun shop about an hour north of here. He had a semi trailer specially outfitted so he could test fire guns in it. My aunt went in there one day and blew her brains out. It crushed my mother.

Yup. Funny story, but when I first moved here in 1996 or 1997, I dated a girl who happened to be a cousin of Selena. I didn't really know much about Selena, and asked this girl about who was this biker woman statue about, downtown. Turns out, that was the Selena memorial! I didn't wind up having too many more dates with her! lol

Lol, yeah it was probably the ‘biker woman’ comment that did it...

The statue does in fact look like a biker woman though.

I try to visit the area every few years. When I first visited, I went for lunch at one of Selena’s old favorite restaurants. As soon as the staff realized that I was a Selena fan, they started bringing me HUGE plates of some of her favorite dishes. It was the best food that I had ever had in my life. Turns out her dad was eating breakfast there when he got the call that she had been shot...

I don’t know... I think they are still interpreting this as bad guy / mass shooting / public place. They just spin it however they want to. Several of my cousins called me about it yesterday so it was on the news in at least 3 states other than Louisiana.
