Good article. Here's my 12-gauge shotgun for home defense. It's a S & W Model 916T. Because this model is not well thought of it was cheap. It looks good, and it looks imposing, and it only has to work once.

One gun has taken up all my shotgun duties for close to 30 years. 20 inch accuchoked rifle sighted mossberg 500. Does everything from bird hunting to deer hunting to protecting the homestead. I learned to wingshoot on a rifle sighted Savage 410.

Sure. And I have a couple. Not an 88 though. And if I was going to just have one shotgun there’s no way it would be an 88.

If I didn't have so many 1897's, I might be inclined to get one. It checks the boxes and is about $200 street price.

I really like my Security 88 for dirty field trips after hogs in thick brush.
For the $300 it doesn't bother me to be muddy and scratched
