Mec Gar are made in CTAre all mec gar mags made in Italy I purchased a couple for my beretta fs 92 mine is an older beretta made in ackk. Mo. My gun is made in the USA it should work just fine I think
Actually, they are made in Italy. Just looked at the mag that came with my Mossberg MC2C. It says "made in Italy", and it is a Mec Gar.Mec Gar are made in CT
Wow you are correct, (not that I doubted you,) Mec-Gar has a manufacturing plant in Middletown CT in the town I lived in for 25 years.Mec Gar are made in CT
MecGar and Magpul are the two main magazine brands I trust in most firearms. In the AR or AK platforms there's quite a few more reputable companies to choose from.I don't know if all MecGar mags are made in Italy, but all of the ones that I own are made in Italy. I've had great luck with MecGar magazines, and many of the big handgun manufacturers contract with MecGar to make the magazines for their pistols. I normally swear by OEM magazines, but I make an exception for MecGar. I avoid ProMag and most other aftermarket companies like the plague.
I probably need to modify my rule. I trust only OEM and MecGar for handgun magazines. I'm not nearly as picky for AR or AK mags. I've picked up pot-metal bargain bin AK magazines from unknown countries that have run forever. I also have quality AR mags from probably a half-dozen companies (Magpul, Okay Industries, Duramag, etc.). I do insist on factory Ruger mags for my Mini 30 and Mini 14.MecGar and Magpul are the two main magazine brands I trust in most firearms. I agree Promag is a complete dumpster fire brand.
Mec Gar are considered the industry standard in magazinesThanks for all the reply buying after market mags could be disastrous
I use Magpul & oem Glock style mags and Magpul CZ Scorpion mags and I've never had an issue.FWIW, my Sig M17 came with a USA made 17 round mag and the two 21 round mags are made in Italy. I am a stickler for OEM mags, but I have bought and used MagPul mags for my Glocks, they work flawless, so if I can’t find a Glock mags, I go to MagPul.
I've only tried Promag mini-14 mags (they were free) as an alternative to OEM with crappy results. I have read that the Tapco gen 2 mags were reliable but I haven't seen any available locally to give them a try.I probably need to modify my rule. I trust only OEM and MecGar for handgun magazines. Oddly, my rule is almost reversed for 1911 magazines. In most cases, I'd rather have an aftermarket magazine (I'm partial to Chip McCormick) than the OEM 1911 mags. That's the problem with having multiple types of firearms. It gets very hard to have one rule that applies to everything. The best I can do regarding MecGar mags is to say, "In my non-1911, semi-auto handguns, I normally only trust OEM or MecGar magazines." It's not nearly as catchy, but it's more accurate.
