BTW - I have one of my Garands set up with a scope like the one in this picture.
 
Looks too pretty. The Garand is a warrior, needs a nice piece of walnut, with some well earned wabi, watch speak for wabi sabi, meaning generally wear and tear, the sum of its experience.
 
At the time it came out? It was a game changer.

Now?

It’s heavy, it’s got a ridiculously low capacity for a combat long arm, and its cartridge has heavier recoil than it needs for its terminal performance.

And I wouldn’t hesitate to use one of mine should it be necessary. My H&R has 4 clips of black tips on the sling, ready to mess up someone who thinks their Lvl3 armor will hold up to incoming.
