Number 2 turret on USS Michigan showing the 12" gun that burst on September 21, 1916 during target practice. One man was injured by flying debris, and the forward superstructure was also damaged, including the cage mast. This mast would collapse during a storm in January 1918, buckling at the same spot where the damage occurred.
