I'm thinking about putting my old Model 10 in my emergency kit in my Jeep for when I'm in the mountains or deep in the wilderness with no cell service. Anyone know if the Model 10 can handle +p .38 Special? I hot the gun from my grandpa when he died and I'd hate to blow it up.

Surely you don't intend to just leave it in your Jeep unattended?
Lord no. I have a bag with food, a hatchet, knives, 18v impact wrench and socket for wheel lugs, camp stove, etc that I take if I'm going into wilder areas of the woods or the mountains. I dont leave it in the car otherwise. It strikes me a .38 with some 158gr hardcast +p rounds might be good to have in there, too.

In that case I think it's a good choice. Although personally I might pick one of my .357s considering what kind of threats may lurk in wooded, mountainous areas.

I like my .357 a lot but the Model 10 is quite a bit smaller. If incant get the Jeep fixed and I have to hike a ways, space and weight will be at a premium. Otherwise yes, an L frame would be great.
