Modern-Day .30-30:

SA has a .300blk Victor only in AR pistol form.

OK I was focused on a rifle as per the article's use of a .300 Blackout rifle for hunting.

I figured that, so that's why I specified the pistol .300blk is definitely a great round but ammo is tough to come by especially subsonic which was tough to find in my area even before the buying panic.

Yep, pretty much unobtainable in my area also.

I scored 8 boxes of Remington UMC 125gr at Bass Pro recently for $16.99 a box and I also picked up 3 boxes of 240gr Cor-Bon from a local guy for only $40 for all 3 boxes.

I’ve been toying with building an ultra-lightweight 16” .300 for dedicated supersonic rounds; I’ve got a magnesium lower sitting around, may order a matching upper...get a carbon 1:10 barrel, carbon tube...could probably get it under 5# before optic. Make a sweet woods rifle.

Sounds like it would be a cool project!

Keep us updated if you end up building it....😁👍

In the article the author states the .300blk is close the the 30-30 in power to which I disagree. The 30-30 shoots a much heavier round at greater velocity then the .300blk. The .300blk shares similar ballistics to the 7.62x39 with the .350 legend being probably the closest to a 30-30 in terms of similar grain bullet and velocity in an AR platform.

.350 legend ammo has been available in my area for around $9 a box of 20 which is about $6-$7 cheaper then the 30-30 ammo I usually buy for the range.
