More blue city lunacy.

It’s an age old tactic by D mayors to cut PD overtime.
They overspend to no end, do all sorts of freeloader money giveaways all the time, hoarding grant monies, strategic re-distributions when it’s politically advantageous - but never, ever keep a public safety rainy day piggy bank.

They all cry poor-mouth at each and every PD contract negotiation. They don’t do this with teacher union walk outs and strike threats.

In Chicago, past mayors have done this as a measure to not only demoralize the rank and file, but to vilify LE in order to foment the public that it’s greed behind every police contract.
I expect more of the same coming very soon from our newly elected, slow to respond, Marxist and this is also because of the costs of illegal migrantion on top of all the other city services that are subject to budget cutting - except education of course. NYC and the league of all D mayors are schooled by Chicago tactics.

There’s nothing wrong with measures to cut spending as part of a well managed system. But that’s not what they’re doing, continued overspending and mismanagement of budgeted funds is what Chicago is known for. It points to the elected and appointed city leaders with their pandering, their agendas and the messages they want to convey to the sheep that voted for them.

For that it’s worth, NYC under deBlasio spent $1 billion to solve a homeless problem by creating a program headed up by his now ex-wife. Yes, fund was squandered and went unaccounted for, all the while homelessness escalated and that corrupt program is now defunct. No questions answered about that criminal fiasco, but now NYC needs money for imported problem they originally thought was a grand humanitarian idea.

Don’t ever expect these city hired and paid civilian activists councils to change or revert back to proactive policing :

And they blame the last Admin.
😑
This is not about saving money……..

Let’s run the numbers. $$$

It’s common knowledge that NYC reportedly has the largest police department in the world with close to 35,000 officers and therefore has a budget to pay for those officers, that being said if you talk about a shortage of officers then there is money in the budget to pay for overtime for the occasional need for officers to stay over on shift to continue needed investigations of criminal activity.

Let’s call this what it is……

A money grab to rape one budget to move money to other departments within the government and then funneled off to be never seen again.

Can you say defund the police without actually saying it……..

if the city wants to cut back on over time for the police, then they should also cut back on the OT for fire fighters as they too chew up loads of hours, battling those high rise apartment fires, and stores with apartments above... fire fighters cannot leave the scene until the flames are out, and hot spots are tendered too.

oh yeah baby...let's see those fire fighters not get paid over time....
