Just get some AlumaHyde or a bluing pen.Anyone have a 590 A1 and tried taking the sharp edges of the loading port? Mine feels like it's going to cut every time I load a shell. Not sure if you could simply use a file and round those edges. How would you refinish the raw metal?
So the receiver IS aluminum? Felt like aluminum. Soft like aluminum but a magnet stuck to it......I think it was picking up the bolt or trigger group through the AL.Just get some AlumaHyde or a bluing pen.
ALL Mossberg shotgun receivers are machined from an aluminum block, yes there are of course multiple components inside the assembled receiver that are steel that your magnet is reacting to.So the receiver IS aluminum? Older models maybe, when I was working there from 2010-2015 they were made from aluminum.590’s should be steel.
AlumaHyde works on steel as well, though.

Thanks for the advice.I wouldn't suggest 'grinding' on anything, especially an aluminum receiver on a new gun.
Wrap a short piece of 180 grit emery cloth around your finger and simply rub it back and forth over the edge you want to soften. It won't take much and you won/t need a lot of pressure. Try to maintain an angle across the edge that will remove the same amount of material on both the outside edge and the inside. That will keep the smoothed area about the same width on both and much less noticeable even after re-blueing.
