Mossberg 590 Shockwave: Top Selling Pump Shotgun in 2020

I really wish the NRA would be more careful about calling the Shockwave a "shotgun" in the headline, and awarding it the title of "Best Selling Shotgun". While the article explains how the Shockwave is not an NFA item, the NRA needs to respect their status among the foremost experts on guns in the country. The NRA blatantly calling the Shockwave a shotgun, instead of an "other firearm", is the exact sort of behavior that gives the BATFE ideas about re-classifying items that were perfectly legal at the time of purchase.

Mossberg hit a homerun with the Shockwave, and it is an excellent weapon. Unfortunately, the NRA seems destined to continue their streak of being their own worst enemy.

I love the Shockwave series and own a 12 gauge and a 20 gauge. I couldn't believe it when I saw them selling for $600 on gundeals. I bought the 12 gauge when it first came out in 2017 for $399 at my LGS. I bought the 20 gauge on a great sale from Palmetto State for $249 in 2019. I wonder how long, if ever, until we'll see those prices again.

I own the shockwave in 20ga. I'll be honest, I can't hit **** with it most of the time. My friend (former army ranger) couldn't hit anything with it either, and laughed calling it a breaching tool, not a weapon. It's kinda scary thinking these are selling so well, likely to new and unexperienced shooters.

It's like anything else brother. You have to train with it. This just goes to show that even a Ranger who never trains with a shotgun shouldn't use that shotgun as a SD weapon. He is right about one thing though. The thing ANY shotgun with a pistol grip is best suited for is Breaching. You can however train with it and it will become a devastating close quarters weapon in tight spaces. My 500 had a pistol grip on it for many years and it was my primary HD weapon. And I could hit anything in it's effective range. That said I put a telescoping AR stock on it quite awhile ago because it is an inescapable fact that your accuracy and speed with follow up shots increase greatly if you shoulder the weapon.

This is the reason I stated that I wanted the green laser side mount on it. Put dot on target and pull trigger. You can get crimson trace side mount laser for the 12 and the 20 GA.
