My first AR lower build

I had a flattop upper that i’d swap out with my Ruger AR556 upper. I figured i’d pick up a budget complete lower from PSA but they won’t ship complete lowers to NJ. So bought the parts and built one. 😁
This is my first one and was a budget build because i wasn’t sure how it would go. Took me about an hour and i didn’t mar or break anything!
Now that i have that under my belt i’m thinking about building an “other”. 🤣

Yeah, that's the thing. Welcome to the disease there's no cure for. I'm in the middle of another one myself. Wait until you get to upgrading parts. Triggers, bolt catch, mag release, ambi safeties, etc..

It's a fun and expensive hobby. :)

Yours looks nice buddy.

Trigger is the EPT from PSA. I think it needs some breaking in. A little gritty and the reset is clunky. I’m spoiled by the hyperfire in the Ruger.
I have to move the scope forward. The fixed stock has a shorter LOP than the one on my Ruger. No big deal.

As BB said once you get the Build-Monkey on your back it's tough to restrain yourself.

I only just got everything on my herd the way I want it, so off to other stuff now.

Well, depending on what your next rifle is, I would shoot it a little bit then replace it with the Hiperfire. I have one on the way currently for my BCM build ( Upper just came through the door an hour ago.) Stick the EPT in your parts bin. If you don't have a parts bin now, you soon will. It will come in handy later.

My standard now for my Tier 3-4 ARs.

Me too. I have a soft spot for Winchester bolt guns. Oldest one is a model 68 from 1934-35’ish. My old Winchesters outshoot my newer 22’s any day of the week. My most accurate one is a model 75 target rifle from 1939 (pictured). All original, including the “mailbox” front sight and Winchester rear peep. View attachment 70664

I never got the proverbial .22 beginner rifle as a kid. I started out with a 30-30. That's probably why I never had any desire to keep one around. Recently my uncle died and left me a Marlin Model 60 ( this one runs and runs well) and a Springfield 87A "Gill gun". Both are good shooters and a hell of a lot of fun.
