Knotts Berry farm tells me your an old fart like me 😜

I have quite a few knives but my favorite that sits in my gun safe is the Gil Hibben Kenpo Karate Bowie knife(first edition). In the old days when you tested for Kenpo black belt you sometimes were gifted one of those knives.

It's not an expensive knife but it reminds me of the 4.5 years of training at least 3 times a week, most times I trained 4 or more days, to be eligible to test. 4.5 years, about 4.5 hour test that was as grueling as some of the things I did as a Marine...:)

When I was younger I was taught that when you gifted someone a knife you gave them a penny or other coin in return, so the knife wouldn't cut the friendship.

One of my sisters turned 75 last month and I gifted her 2 knives. She gave me 2 pennies in return that are in my gun safe(not a Liberty safe...:)).

The first knife I ever owned was a cheap Chinese knife that I got for selling  Grit magazines.

I was so proud of that knife that I took it to school with me to show it off to my friends and it got confiscated.

The first knife I purchased as an adult was a Buck 110 that I bought in a pawn shop in Pearland Texas. I bought my first rifle in that same pawn shop.

I lost a knife when I moved out of an apartment in Florida and left it behind. I bought the knife in the photo in 1995 or 96 at the PX on Fort Carson and it is the Knife I've owned the longest. My wife bought me that Multiplier at roughly the same time.

I sold Grit magazines myself. I remember the books for putting in coins you collected from sales...:)

My first knife was given to me by my , now deceased , oldest B-I-L . A Camillus 4 blade camp knife , like new , with US inscribed on the handle. The same knife was issued to the troops .

I was 8 or 9 at the time . I had it in my pocket when I graduated the 8th grade and I had it in my pocket when I walked across the stage to get my diploma at high school graduation . I carried that knife every day after it was given to me.

A Boy Scout folding knife with screwdriver and bottle opener and can opener in addition to the blade that I kept “shave the hair on your arm” sharp that I got when I was 8. I carried that knife for more years than I can even count. It is in my “war box” these days, waiting for my daughter to tell me she is OK with my giving it to my grandson.
