The university of Illinois had the mascot and traditional dance taught by Native Americans they represented but that still wasn't enough they were bullied to give it up our loose tons of cash from donors.

I've tried explaining to people that most NAs are not offended by that kind of thing ( Redskins, Chiefs, etc.). Most are actually proud of it.

In high school (class of '75) we were the Braves....North Jersey, pretty far from Comanche territory. Nobody cared.

My entire public school district from elementary schools, junior highs and high school were indian names. Braves, Warriors, Chiefs, Redskins, etc.
