The USS Connecticut hit something in the S China Sea. Navy wont say what it was. Chinese sub? Underwater obstruction like a seamount ?
Who knows, but the damage could have been a lost sub. Sub crew had a really bad day.

Just think how it would be to drive a vehicle with all the windows covered and driving at up to 40mph relying only on those new car proximity sensors and a GPS read-out without any actual visual help.

....or, like early spacecraft going much faster w/o windows?

Relief of command for the Captain?
Unknown.

They said they didn't even know what they hit. Hard to relieve of command unless there was a screw-up.

They're taking a look at her at Naval Base Guam right now.

Perhaps, but there's more to bump into on the earth's surface than in space.
Yup, sure is!
But, maybe not for long with all the space clutter up there now? Many of what some may think of or appear as stars are actually satellites or space debris.

Good or not, engineers didn't want any windows on early craft. Likely forgot about human factors?
Was debate about 1st spacecraft having windows or not until 1st astronauts spoke their minds. We may be glad astronauts did?
