Well, their stats as a rating viewership are way, way down and now Barkley told all the “rednecks” to .. well.. “go somewhere”

Good luck NBA and overpaid ball players …

“Let's take a quick trip into the NBA's history to show you where the NBA used to be and where it is today. And let's start almost exactly 25 years ago today, when Michael Jordan stepped back for a jumper — subtly pushing off the Utah Jazz's Bryon Russell in the process — and drained a jumper to win Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals.”

“ In fact, 35.856 million people watched that game, never before and never since have more people watched a basketball game in American history.

That game represented the absolute apex of the NBA's influence in American sporting life.

But it wasn't just that game alone, that six-game Jazz-Bulls series averaged 29.4 million viewers, an all-time high for the NBA Finals in America.

Twenty-five years later, this past season's five-game NBA Finals averaged just 11.64 million viewers, one of the lowest audiences on record and a continuation of the NBA's collapsing ratings. Indeed, four of the five lowest-rated NBA Finals of the past 30 years have occurred in the past four years. (12.4 million viewers in 2022, 9.91 million viewers in 2021, 7.45 million viewers in 2020.)”

To be honest, who cares.....since they worship the ground China walks on, baseball went political, as did football, and NASCAR went completely bonkers with the fake noose thing with Bubba Wallace, I don't watch much of any sports these days. Sports are not the same as when I was growing up, I couldn't wait till football season, baseball and basketball season, now I could care less about any of them to be honest.

I was never a basketball fan and I don't think I've ever sat through a complete game.

I'm not much into sports anymore either, though I do like to watch soccer. I'm happy St. Louis finally got a team and they are very good.

Don't watch if you don't want to, but understand that the days of TV ad based revenue to support teams is long past. Remember the 49ers kneeler and the copycats on other teams? Many said they are through with the NFL, no one is watching, boycott etc., but the league is still around and all that is forgotten. The real sponsors (China, some oligarch, whoever) will ensure favored leagues stay in business and no one will take a pay cut. The TV ads are just gravy.

I'm not a fan of watching the NBA.

I was doing a martial arts demo at the University of Arkansas Little Rock many years ago. One of the players on the college basketball team who was at least 6'4 told me that the techniques I was demonstrating wouldn't work against him. So I asked him to attack me any way he wanted. He overestimated his ability and underestimated mine. I put him on the ground and put him in an arm bar but I didn't cause any permanent damage to his arm. The rest of the martial arts demo went well...:)

One of my martial arts instructors taught me long ago, "Never carry poison unless you have an antidote." (Always know most of the ways your techniques can be countered so you'll know where the holes are and are prepared to deal with them if they're exploited. Every self-defense technique has holes.)

The long limbs that basketball players have can generate a lot of power but they can also make arm bars/limb destruction techniques much easier...:)

Boxing and martial arts training are great equalizers for kids to learn in case they run into a bully who happens to play basketball, baseball, or football. Most wrestlers are not bullies, in my experiences of dealing with bullies.

Most professional sports have become too political for my tastes. I got rid of my cable subscription after the last Super Bowl(Go Chiefs..:)) and haven't watched a complete professional game since then.

I might go watch an NFL game at a friend's or relative's house when the NFL season starts but we'll see. I used to watch a lot of college and pro football but don't feel the need for it anymore.

Once football season starts and the weather gets cooler I might take advantage of less people at the local parks and get in some good quiet walks or recumbent trike rides....:)

I watch sports just for the social aspect of hanging with buddies at their place.

There to drink beer and hang.
Could care less what sport is on the boob tube

i hadn't forgotten Kaepernick and his "protest kneeling".

i feel that if one must feel the need to protest, then do so out of uniform, and on the streets with all the other protesters, for your cause.

to be in (any sort of) uniform, to me, denotes that the entire crew on that team or that business, and the owner, is in with you and your protest.

this is simply not true, as we know, but all the same, once in (any sort of) uniform, you represent everyone, including the owner(s).
