Ncstar 1911 Trigger Guard Mount for 1911

Just bought a barely used floor model Defender 1911 off gunbroker.com. My first .45 (haven't received it yet). Went with a SA Defender for price/quality. Couldn't afford the .45's I saw with built in rails. In todays pandemic, riot, liberal anti 2A world, the prices have gone nuts... I have a crimson trace laser that I would like to mount (if possible) without having a gunsmith drill and tap in a rail. Does anyone have experience with the Ncstar 1911 Trigger Guard Mount for the 1911? I see mixed reviews. Some reviews with SA 1911s say it works great. Thanks in advance.
 
Was hoping someone here had already tried this? I guess I'll give it a try and post results... wanted to avoid tapping and drilling my Defender if possible.

So, installed the rail with the Crimson Trace laser/light. Seems tight. Will update once Ive had a chance to zero it in.

Not at all... Some people gave negative reviews of the rail saying it fell off, etc. I noticed that some of them had installed it on models that the company states are not compatible. The SA Defender Mil Spec is a compatible model, as seen here. I was hoping to hear from someone else on this forum who's already done this... guess Im that guy. Will let you know after I run some rounds through it. I figured Id post it here in case anyone else with a SA searches the same thing in the future... The 1911 models I shopped at gunbroker.com that had the rails built in were out of my budget. This accomplishes what I wanted, (if it works) for what I was willing to pay. With all that being said, Im not a salesperson for this rail, Im just a guy on a budget who wanted a 1911 with a rail and stumbled across this option. I must say though, Im super happy with the quality of the SA Defender! Glad I spent a little more on a SA vs. a Rock Island 1911. Tho Rock Islands get good reviews too... Anyway, cant wait to try it out! Will post a review follow up. Stay tuned...
 
I would be leery of anything NCStar...the one piece of equipment I tried (a USP rail adapter) fell off the first time I used it.

Hope yours works better...

I think I would look at this system as something a bit more reliable...

Saw something like one you're talking about, possibly same one? Been awhile. Front's held on by a strong Neodymium magnet? Are some very strong magnets out there. Some magnets are very reluctant to simply pull or pry off! Have seen some little ones that are real brutes for their size. Can be very deceiving. Usually need to slide magnets off if anything works. Use caution with them, they can cause injuries.....
 
This one has 3 set screws that tighten the clamp on the trigger guard. I can't move it or work it loose by hand but we'll see how it holds up after firing some rounds with the pistol... I haven't had a chance to get to the range, but once I do I'll post a follow up...

Ya, I looked at this! Actually preferred it but they state it only fits full size with 8 round magazine. I emailed them about the SA Defender mil spec (which comes with a 7 round magazine... tho an 8 round mag fits) and they said it wound not fit my model. I was bummed, then came across the trigger guard mount as another option. I'll fire a few rounds then check to see if its still tight. Agreed, I definitely would've preferred the recover tactical system though...
 
So.... update to this thread. The NCSTAR trigger mount was a fail. After a few rounds it came loose and sagged significantly. I have found this tho: Recover grip and hand rail system for 1911's. My Springfield Mil-Spec pictured with the grip/rail. Picture makes it look blue but it is gray to match the gun. Google reviews, (several on YouTube). Very hopeful this will hold a tactical light/laser with no issues. Add a rail to your mil-spec 1911 for $40. Just thought I'd let you know about the last product and this one. Hope it works out at the range. Recover grip also makes a holster to fit (ordered one of those too). Will follow up if there's issues with the hardware.
