Been searching the "net" and no good results but I am looking for a safe but geared more so for handguns. Although we don't have kids to safeguard them from but it's about time I get a safe geared for handguns. Does anyone here have something or know of a company that makes a safe for what I'm looking for ? Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Like most things in life, what you get depends a lot on what you are willing to spend. To get the capacity you need, I agree an upright safe would best suit your needs. Most have pre-drilled holes bottom and back for securing to the wall/floor. Depending on where you live you may want to consider how you will handle humidity/moisture. I use aFloia (you can see them on Amazon) silica gel cylinders. They work well, but you have to remove them every so often and put them in a heating base to dry them out before they can go back in your safe. In retrospect, I should have put a 110v outlet inside the safe so I could install an in-safe dehumidifier. Then all I would have to do is dump the water tank every couple of months. There has been a lot written recently on biometric/electronic locks - specifically that ATF/LEOs have electronic devices that enable them to open your safe. If this is true, you can bet anyone can get their hands on one. I prefer a dial-driven combination lock with a heavy-duty mechanical locking mechanism. Your combined weight (safe + contents) could create floor loading problems, so you will want to check that out in advance. For the high-capacity safes you will probably need to pay a mover/installer. If you are getting the impression that this option is pricey, you are correct. An alternative might be a couple of flat, under-the-bed safes. You will still have to address humidity. These generally come with cable locks so you can secure them to the bed frame. Recently I have noted that many of the big box stores are starting to carry larger safes - especially Lowe's and Home Depot. You can probably save some money going this route, as many offer free delivery. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

i purchased a 20 "GUN" safe from tractor supply a bit ago.
20 long guns is a STRETCH...as in no way unless they lean on each other

but for adding shelves...its really nice. it came with various clips and shelf's to configure insides to accommodate wide range of set ups
the reason i say tractor supply, is they had several different safes and the manager opened all of them and let us "play" with them for what seemed like hours. I even used axe handles from their shelves to act as long guns so we could see what was what
i also made a bracket from oak with wooden dowels to hold several pistols by the barrel under the top shelf
my take is go to a store that has a good selection and do just like buying a car or boat or rv...do a test drive in the store to see what meets your needs

mine is branded winchester and built for tractor supply ?? its a great value for our needs imo
plus i shot it by accident and it didnt go through. yes it was my fault. a moment of brain fade

bad ice cube maybe?
it was ALL MY FAULT and did almost cause a fecal incident..
i posted it here i think
but bottom line was i had cleaned the bersa 380, still had slide back when i put in magazine, i was only putting it in 1/2 way (yep,) right before, i had dropped a bullet into barrel and dropped slide and safety was in the FIRE mode, vice SAFE mode and combination of gun moving against my finger it fired right into the safe, normally it wont do that as the safety will prevent cycling of trigger even if round is in and mag is still not seated...just weird and all my fault.
safe took the hit at about around 10 inches or so.
scarred the poop out me, my wife and the dog (she ran and hid) wife ran out yelling ( i presume as i could not hear at that point) i saw her though,:mad:as i was doing that self check of 2 arms, yep, 2 legs, yep, BLOOD ....NO, pain...NO. i really thought i was in shock and that was why the blood had not started yet running out of me. lucky as heck
i searched the whole garage to find the bullet, it hit safe, ricocheted up to the wall and bounced off a picture frame, over my head and into the sheets covering the dillion.
