New Walther full sized PDP. Got a really good price on it. I just may venture into red dots with this one. I can't remember who here has one. If you do can you give me any opinions on it please / Thanks...

I have 3 PDPs a 4 and 5in compact and a PDP Pro X PMM which I am actually sitting at home waiting to arrive back from the mothership today (I have to sign for it). I like the 4in, it fits the hand well and shoots extremely well. Assuming the Pro X works properly when I get it back, it will more than likely go to the top of my PDP list. I also have a Q5 SF, two P99s and a stainless PPK/S in .380.

Walthers are all very good guns and the PDP is no slouch. I find it a bit snappy and its ergonomics could be better - I’m spoiled by the VP9’s ergos. There’s a lot of talk about the PDP’s trigger being the best in the striker fired game, but I don’t completely buy into that. It’s good, but I like the VP9’s trigger more. You can add the Walther Dynamic Trigger for app $200, but I don’t think you get $200 worth of “betterness”, whereas for a $30 spring kit from MCarbo the VP9 trigger becomes absolutely amazing.

As far as optics I have a Holosun SCS green dot on one and a CH red dot on another, with another C+H red dot on the way. Both of these optics direct mount to the pistol. The SCS is ok but it only has an auto brightness setting and IMO it is usually too bright for my liking. I really like the C+H optic, but I wish it had a green dot.

Congrats on your new addition. I don’t think you can go wrong with a PDP. They look great, shoot great and are extremely well priced. Hopefully you’ll never need it but, Walther’s Customer Service is outstanding. Let us know your thoughts when you get it to the range.

Congrats WP (y). I have two PDPs. the 4" compact I bought when the PDPs were first introduced, and the PDP Match Steel Frame 5" when the steel & polymer PDP Match pistol were introduced. You get one free plate if you send in or call Walther, for the compact I got the Delta Point Pro plate and the Steel Match I requested the RMR plate since I have a Trijicon SRO optic hanging out somewhere around here. Good luck with yours, It's an excellent pick up in my opinion.

Pennsylvania State Police just went to Walther PDP and Red Dots.
Indiana is running Sig 227 45 ACP. They have had them since 2014 and have enough unused guns and parts could run them 20 more years.

However rumor is Walther PDP is under consideration as new ISP handgun New Governor and State Police Superintendent were sworn in this week so we will see.

On a side note I’m not sure if the relationship between Indiana and Pennsylvania state police but since the mid 90’s they have both had the same issues handguns more than they have not so I’m curious.
iSP has a bad taste from Glock so I will really really be surprised if they go back.
