RickAnderson, The 10mm cartridge appears to be coming on strong and this FN is no exception. That is some serious fire power in a hand held weapon. I recently purchased the Sig P320 X10 and really enjoy shooting the gun. More offerings in this caliber tells me that the cartridge is alive and well. I had the FN 509 which was a really nice gun but I sold it to a buddy of mine who really wanted the gun he is a big FN fan. Nice article

I have the SA XD-M Elite OSP 10mm, I really like it. I just installed a powder river trigger kit, and Cerakoted it MAGPUL OD Green.

I have an FNX-45 Tactical as well, and it is the most reliable and accurate pistol in my collection. I have about 600 rounds through it and only one single misfeed, that was really cheap ammo, the pistol really dirty and it just took a small tug of the slide back a bit and let go to get it into the chamber and fire.

I might have to add another 10mm to my collection.

The only thing about the 509 I didn't like, is the trigger, its like a glock trigger, a long gritty pull. And instead of a blade safety on the trigger, its this two piece trigger, that as you press it, it unfolds a bit to unlock. I'm pretty sure it does the same as the Glock Safe Action, racking the slide only half cocks the striker, and the trigger pull is DA to finish cocking it. This way its safe without a manual safety.

That's what I like about the XD-M line, the grip safety locks the sear, so you can have fully cocked striker and still safe cause there is no way for the striker to come off the sear if you hand is not around the grip depressing the grip safety.

Apex Triggers makes a replacement trigger for the FN 509 that is suppose to vastly improve it. Hopefully they will have a version for the 510/545 soon. BUT, if it turns the DA trigger into a SA trigger, I have to worry about that and safety.

I went to the range today and shot my new Desert Eagle in .50 AE....
Then shot my XD-M Elite 10mm and my XD-M .45ACP....
After shooting the Desert Eagle in .50 AE, the 10mm and .45 ACP felt like shooting a .22lr...
Sounds like you are tearing it up that’s awesome I too found the 509 trigger the same as you and I think my buddy is going to install the Apex you mentioned which should improve that issue greatly. That’s great that you had a good range day nothing better than to turn gun powder into smoke. Perhaps that 10mm is in your future

I have five .45 ACP's, three of them 1911's....
I really like my one 10mm, and I like FN's but also only have one of them....

So yes, a FN 510 may be in my future, looks like the first few released sold out right away, and there is going to be a wait....

The deciding factor is going to be the Apex Trigger, if Apex will make one available and if it defeats any safety features to get that better trigger action....

under a grand for it, so not to bad!
mag prices are 60 to 80 bucks, so no thanks on those
ri hc has 16 round mag capabilities on their 10mil and mag prices are less, but it's a 1911.....hmmmmmmm?
sig xten is a maybe, but @SimonRL has pointed out they're having issues with the guns, but some might just be lucky on getting 1 without issues like I've had with my 2.0....0 issues
any 1911 non grip angle works for me and say no to grip safeties
maybe I'll just but a 105 and call it good🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

Is anyone else getting tired of the word, tactical? I wouldn't mind shooting someone's .45 just to experience it.
"Tactical" is the Pro-2A term for the Anti-Gunners "Assault Weapon"....

It means it has meaningless bells and whistles on the pistol, at least for most people.... ....for the most part its an "appearance" package....

Sure, if you want to go through what is necessary for a suppressor, the threaded barrel will come in handy... (not all tactical versions have threaded barrels)...

It's also the "GT", "R/T" version of the pistol, meaning its a premium version....

As far as shooting one, no difference, in most cases its not for shooting its for taking out of the safe and showing off..

Few have been tougher on Sig's P320 than myself, but judging by the numbers in the news, most of them don't have issues, the number of uncommanded firings is very small, small fractions of 1%, they have fixed the drop fire issue, its just enough it something that can't be ignored..... ...and you've always got to worry do you have one of the 1 in a 100,000 that might fire on its own...

For me, its the lack of safety features, I simply pass and go on to another pistol despite all the positive attributes it does have....
