New Gun(s) on the Horizon... Need help lol

Soooooo, a friend of mine made me an offer I couldn't refuse for my Scout Squad after he shot it this past Sunday. He just liked my exact set up and decided he had to have it. So I find myself with a bit of a cash windfall. There are a few guns on my mind lately but I can't decide.

At the top of the list is a Beretta M9A4. I don't own a Beretta currently and every one that i've shot just felt unlike any other full size 9mm, barring my friend's Staccato P. Staccato P was on the list too but I don't think I want to drop that much coin on one handgun right now. I could get the Beretta and still have plenty left over for another gun.

The Prodigy has been up there, and still is - This is sort of where i'm torn. Love and want a 2011, but I feel like the Beretta is just classic and a must have for any collection. Found one (M9A4) at an LGS by work, NIB for $980.

Do I just get the Beretta and replace the M1A? I've really always wanted a Walnut one anyways, and my Scout Squad was the black polymer one. That would about exhaust the cash from the sale.

Another part of me wants a Piston AR. And then there is the Larue 7.62 i've been considering... and an old friend from my part time Academy days just went to work for them, so i'm hoping he can hook me up a bit on the price.

I'm a bit all over the place as you can see. There are other guns I would consider also but at the moment these seem to be at the forefront. PLZ HALP! lol.

I would appreciate all your input. Also, feel free to muddy the waters with other suggestions!

Ok, in my mind first comes needs. Are thier actually holes in your home arsenal that require filling? Like me, right now if I sold the P365xl I would consider a need to be a higher capacity pistol with rail and optics ready which is why I bought it to fill in the first place. And I would pick right now a beretta 80, As the current most likely successor.

If not filling needs, just scratching itches, then whatever makes you all warm and fuzzy most.

Deuce,
The way I’m reading your post, you are trying to convince yourself to get the Beretta and a walnut M1A replacement. (Note: you do not need anything).
Read that recent thread about “EDC Merry Go Round” , esp the post about “retail therapy” (aka impulse spending, endorphin release etc), and if you can accept the expense (ie, no pressing or competing needs right now or on the near/mid horizon), you could go for it…just be honest with yourself first !

At the moment, I don't necessarily have what I would call any needs. I looked up that Beretta 80 though, that's a pretty snazzy looking gun. Not looking for another EDC at the moment. 365XL suits me well and I have the XDM-E Compact .45 for the colder days/when I feel I need a bigger caliber.

Just looking for new toy(s) for the most part and cannot decide.

I'm not lying to myself, I know whatever I buy is purely to scratch the itch and grow the collection. The only thing "missing" I would say is now a .308 - But I never necessarily felt that was a need. Not yet anyways. Was always just a want. It's not something that made the trip to the range everytime, quite opposite it was not often enough, and then the cost of ammo was another factor for sure.

Does 1 firearm over another suit you better? long gun or handgun? 9mm or 45acp? pcc?

Got the PCC itch scratched last go around. I don't know if one would suit me better versus the other. I was thinking a new handgun and a new long gun. Or maybe a new handgun and that .30 cal suppressor i've been wanting for the .300 blk. or a new long gun and that .30 suppressor. Who the hell knows?!

Then purely go with whatever calls loudest to you. That's a fun choice and it's hard to go wrong since you csn always flip for the next toy.

Just get both, that's how I roll

Get the Prodigy. Mine has made me forget most of my other pistols.
I would agree with @SimonRL wholeheartedly. Shooting the Prodigy is very satisfactory and quasi-addictive. It's that good in my opinion.

Ever since I've got my Prodigy, I've shot it probably 4x more than any of the others. I had to almost force myself to bring the P226 Legion to the range this weekend, and none of the P320, M18 and M&P have seen the range in weeks...

That’s funny, I’m exactly the same way with my 226 Legion! My X5 Legion and M17 haven’t seen the light of day in months.

Here she is. Was on sale for $1399. I was like damn it man she's too nice. Asked the dude if there was any wiggle room. He said if you buy it right now i'll knock $100 off. so I said $1299? Done. As we were doing paperwork we were chatting and just getting along real well. When he rang me up he decided to give me an additional 5% off so she ended up coming home for $1300 out the door.
