So a LGS about 45 minutes away from me is relocating closer to me and their opening is tomorrow. Was only there once since it's a drive also where I bought my Wilson CQB. They treated me right but due to work and family medical issues couldn't get back down. Well just so happens I'm off tomorrow and get this ? The Wife tells me go, stop down and take a look. So I tell her Okay I'll just go and look.....Said no gun owner ever. How many here have just gone to quote unquote Go Look and came home with a new piece ?

I won't come home with a new gun unless I already had the money sitting there for it. I often go to " Just look" and do the tri-fecta at my 3 favorite places. I always come home with ammo.

You can't not come home without a new gun,not only has your good lady told you to go take a look, you have the perfect excuse, " I went to look and they remembered me" and as such made me an offer I couldn't refuse,if I had waited the price would have gone up so I'm actually saving money, job done 👍

Even if i could afford to pick up a new gun on a whim it is still a 4-6 week ordeal, minimum.
Submit pistol permit to state police. After they do their background check the application is sent to my local pd department for their background check. then it goes through my county for mental health background check. Then, and only then, is the pistol permit issued. Then i can purchase the gun from my lgs then wait another week for the nics check. Apparently in nj the “i” in nics is silent.

Hoarding is a sickness like Signess is.
Between you and @BET7 I’m surprised there’s guns and ammo for the rest of the country. 🤦‍♂️😳😬😂😂😂

all the nitwits i see on tv saying “how easy it is to get a gun” never got a gun in nj.

The only LGS where I ever go to "just look" is the shop attached to my local range. I'll always check out the shop after a range session, but I never make a special trip just to window shop. I have two teenage sons who are both student athletes, so I wind up at Academy frequently. I used to pick up a few boxes of ammo (before they raised their prices), but rarely purchased a gun. I generally have to be in the market for a gun that I am already interested in purchasing (at the right price) before I'll start making trips to gun shops.

I'm not always this disciplined. Double-stack micro compact 9's got me interested enough to start "looking" fairly regularly. I've got my fill of polymer EDC guns for now, so it will probably take another breakthrough development to get me back into the LGS on a regular basis. The Walther WMP peaked my interest because I am a fan of the .22 Magnum round, but the $500 price tag is a little more than I'm willing to pay. If other manufacturers release competing .22 Magnum semi-autos, then I may fall back into shopping mode.
