Just returned from the first time out with the new Range Officer in 45 ACP. Very nice piece of equipment and
worked flawlessly. 200 plus rounds of 4 types of ammo 'names'. And quite accurate considering my bad
trigger habits that I am actively working on to correct. I really like this pistol.
The 2 magazines that came with the pistol work fine. I also took 3 new and never used Chip McCormick Power Mag Plus 10 round
magazines I wanted to test. First time pass with the Chip McCormick magazines, one had a very strange mechanical effect.
The last round loaded fine. But the trigger acted as if the safety is on. I first thought was it me moving the safety to a partial on position.
But the safety was in the off position.
The fix was to engage the safety, disengage the safety and the trigger was free to fire. So I decided to test if all of three
Chip McCormick magazines had this issue or was it isolated.
I marked the magazine with an x using felt tip marker. Then randomly used all three in four more passes. Every pass through the
set of 3, that same marked magazine caused the trigger to act as if the safety was on when the last round loaded. I also included
different loaded round counts (5, 8, 10) in the four passes. Round count did not matter.
So for that one magazine the last round would load yet the trigger acted as if the safety was on. Each time I first pushed the safety down, no motion it was fully down. Then I cycled the safety and the trigger was free and the round fired. Odd. I will do a closer inspection
of the 3 magazines later today.
Any comments, suggestions or this happened to me too, thanks!
I have an old Colt Compact 45 that I will use at the next range visit as another test of these three Chip McCormick magazines.
I do have 4 more Chip McCormick magazines in 8 round capacity. They work fine in the Colt Compact. I will test them in the
Range Officer too.
