So this happened to a friend. I don’t have all the details.

Trying to sell some stuff on market place an “interested party” asked how he could pay. My friend gave them his Zelle information I.E. phone number for him to make a payment. My friend got a text from Zelle asking him to verify the transaction. Then once verified funds were made available. The next day my friends account was missing alot of money. Showing as payments from Zelle to other people. Apparently they are send the verification through a hyperlink that captures your data and then uses your information to then scam other people from their money.

I’ve also found out this is also happening with CashApp and other money management applications.

My trophy wife's credit card has been compromised and replaced 3 times in a year. Everytime it coincided with her sending our son money on Zelle. Don't know the hows and whys but removed Zelle and have no further problems. Now if he needs a few bucks he comes to me and I give him cash. If on-line don't except paypal, they don't get our business...

Similar scam going on in the UK too, friend sells on Marketplace,he gets people message saying I will pay now for your items, then send a Link saying click on it the "buyer" says he has to use the link to pay UPS $100 for postal insurance and will refund the $100 back when he receives the item.
Don't think so

Don't walk away, RUN from ANYPLACE that won't accept Visa, AMEX, or Mastercard for payment. My bank, (J.P. Morgan Chase), told me in no uncertain terms, that ANY online payment system that requires an "app" to use, is usually fraudulent, or can be made so very easily. They get complaints about this all the time. And Zelle is one of the WORST!

If it ain't cc or debit I DON'T USE IT! Not even check by phone!

yeah, i don't buy from online sites often, except for gun broker.com, where i can use my credit card. i never signed up for any other payment. i once lost a sweet Dan Wesson at a 1911 website, the guy was a highly rated and trusted seller there, but he did not accept c.c's. so no sale for me.

then it's my c.c. at my usual online retailers.

i never trusted all those other forms of payments.

I still get emails, 4-5 weekly stating the my Norton products were renewed and billed to my CC or PayPal……funny thing is I don’t have any CC’s or a PayPal account, I just deleted them, it’s a scam, they can’t even spell right…….idiots!
