@SimonRL and I did a Wednesday range session with our instructor tonight.
Holster draw
Speed and accuracy drills from holster

Simon ran a 1.57 sec and I ran a 1.35 sec draw/fire time on head shots only from 7 yards on IDPA target.
Goal was 1.25 . We were off a bit, but I’ll take it

New drill was Runenation Cold start drill.
1 round in small shape then 3 rounds center from draw. Under 2 second goal to start.
3 mags
8 rd -8 rd -full mag
Goal is to hit 2 small shapes and large circle with first mag, then other 2 shapes and center with second mag
Third mag is for any misses.
Can’t move on until you hit a shape.. if you miss, keep shooting until you hit.
5 yards
Shapes are 1”

Ran drill with 1 near miss on “square”.

Next we did speed holster and low ready drills to keep times under 1.5 seconds with 6” target diamter

Final drill was “Corn Hole”
This drill was pretty challenging.
It was each shooter had to put their shot touching the bullet hole of the last shooter.
Thats a less than 3/8” hole =9mm
3 yards
34 rounds each = two 17 rd mags
Shoot from holster draw under 2 seconds for every shot
First shooter shoots 1 round anywhere on paper. Next shooter tries to put their shot on/touching last shooters bullet. Next shooter repeats and has to hit hole of previous shooter.
Each goes 1 rd at a time until everyone has shot 34 rounds.
Bullet holes must touch to count
It was @SimonRL, our instructor and myself against each other.
We hit 21 on top of each other
I hit 9, Simon 6, instructor 6
Almost all our misses were a smidge off with prob most shots less than 1” off.
Challenging, skills, draw work , speed

That damn bullet hole is hard to hit !!

Honestly, the drills we do are pretty hard and the skill level amongst us is so high that the slightest mistake feels enormous. It’s only when you take stock afterward and you realize how well you’re actually shooting. Our instructor said he’d never seen a cornhole score go so high. I think he thought he was going to smoke us and about halfway through he realized he was in trouble. Great guy, lot of fun and a great instructor. And of course, any time I get to go shooting with whatshisface is a genuine pleasure.

Sounds like a budding “bromance” is afoot.

Hi,

Yes, challenging drills and excellent marksmanship under time pressure. Nice work.

I went for a practice session today and did some timed work with my holster. I'll put it up for your critique. Be gentle. ;)

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff
