I’ve had one on my Hellcat pro for a while now. It works fine. It’s kinda wide for a carry gun optic. It’s the same width as the venom. Hangs over the edges of the Hellcat slide by a fair amount. The so called auto shut off at 14 hours is basically not an auto shut off at all. It’s on all day while moving around on my person and the gun is only off my person at night for about 10-12 hours max before I put it back on my belt. So it never shuts off unless I manually shut it off. I do like the top load battery. That’s probably why it’s so wide, I don’t think they could make a top loader with a narrower battery cover.

If I was going to run one on my carry gun which I would like to do someday soon. It would have to be the eps carry, big on of the enclosed optic. Seems especially handy for dealing with lint.

14 hours seems excessive. The MOTAC on Holosun optics is user adjustable. I think it comes set up for 10 minutes. It's also shake awake so when it is moved it pops back on. Is the Vortex that way or does it shut itself off and then you have to turn it back on ?

It’s motion activated. But ya, 14hrs is ridiculous. I just manually turn it on and off morning and night.

I think all of them should be "Shake awake". In fact I wouldn't buy another one that wasn't. I do have a Vortex Venom and it's a nice RDMS, but it was the first one I ever bought and I didn't know any better.
