New York lawmakers to loosen gun-permit laws after Supreme Court ruling

New York lawmakers began debating how to loosen the state's gun-licensing laws in an emergency session on Thursday to conform with a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision that established a constitutional right for people to carry weapons in public for self-defense.

I wouldn't hope too much because at the same time they are passing other laws, including one that bars you from carrying in any establishment that doesn't explicitly notify the public, with a sign, that firearms are welcome.

Right to carry outside your house doesn't mean much if you aren't allowed to carry into any establishments. And they aren't going to stop there. They will ban carrying on streets with churches or schools on them and all kinds of other crap. And it will stand until it winds it's way to the SCOTUS. Which won't be any time soon.

That is unfortunately very true. They will pass a law that you can't carry on streets with names that contain a vowel or something just as stupid.
