Did I hear this right or what? New York mayor is asking Chicago Mayor for help in reducing gun violence?Last count Chicago had 110 shot & killed,462 shot & wounded , 571 shot and a total of over 120 homicides.starting Jan 1st to March23.Would that be considered the blind leading the blind ?
 
….it kinda/sorta parallels what we call “circular logic” in a way.

Common sense would tell any normal thinking person to find someone who had a successful violent crime reduction program… If you’re someone who’s lost some investment money and don’t want that to happen again, do you seek advice from a failed investor, or ask the rich one?? Only thing I’d ask the failure is what not to do.
 
It would be reasonable for cities with major homicide problems to share information about investigative techniques, tactics, analysis, etc. But in order to deal with the homicide rate you must first identify the underlying causes, describe it, and then articulate it so the problem solvers on the street can address it effectively. Accurately articulating the problem is not happening in this politically correct environment because doing so will sound, well, "racist". The truth is that most of the violent crime is being committed by a few very small subcultures where the primary means of social intercourse is violence. Unfortunately, many are minorities. Race hucksters have the microphone but their cause du jour is waning as violent crime rates skyrocket. Cops on the street know what to do if we would unchain them.

Hey !! I've got an idea . How about if we make a supposed criminal post a certain amount of money for bond consistent with the type of crime and how much violence was involved??? Also , maybe we could start sentencing the convicted criminals to time in prison appropriate to the crime.

Naaawwww , that could never work. I guess we will just have to turn them out on the streets and hope they can turn their life around. :unsure:
 
Got this story today on Chicago news.Dont quote me on the fine details,but it went something like this.Three young boys ages 11 12 13 car jack an older man and in the process shot him (not terminal , so far) released t family with ankle moniters.Excuse me!
 
Murders topped out at 850 in Chicago last year. The only advice mayor Adams can ask of our foolish dolt mayor Lari Lightpoot is how to got away with 3 years of lying about all the shootings, stabbings and murders.

NYC needs help - when you have a fresh, newly elected civic leader seeking help from an even more failing, crime-ridden, big city-little mayor, I ax’you; of what purpose was that NYC mayoral election? DeBlasio on his own certainly left the city in shambles due to his ideology, and clueless Adams wants our input? Too much football without a helmet applies. Bet he like ice cream too.

Adams (No jab-No job) looking for advice from Lightpoot is grounds for a No Confidence vote.

Take inventory of the idiots that are getting elected all over the country, I don’t think Adams “help advice“ statement was disingenuous… he might have thought he was talking to a street cart vendor about help distinguishing the relish to onion ratio on his hotdog.
 
Sure, Adams like a true democrat wants violence to be someone else’s fault and expense.
They all are looking for free Fed “program” money when they run out of local taxpayer money, lately due to revenue shortages shutdowns. But mayors don’t come to Chicago to discuss Fed funding for crime management solutions.

During a joint news conference after a private meeting, Adams credited Lightfoot as a mayor who understands the need to focus simultaneously on “intervention and prevention.”​

Now that Adams day trip meeting to Chicago depicted him as a fool, he‘s back walking some of the details. He was quoted saying our (pugnacious) mayor as “someone who gets it”.
So if the advice he sought was in line with programs, round tables, piece circles, jobs, etc. and the use unaccountable fed taxpayer dollars was the topic du jour, he should well know all these programs “community policing” intervention/prevention models have origins from LA and NYC, federally funded since 1994 Clinton Crime Bill.
It’s utter ridiculous that a former high ranking NYPD officer (now mayor) wouldn’t know this.
Adams came here rather than Lightpoot going there. Some stunt and it backfired. Adams chose the “always wrong“ mayor to have a sit down with. This meeting was a political move and likely staged by Lightpoots inept public affairs dimwits.

Lightpoot is the one that needs advice, she’s drowning by her own faults in the political pool and is grasping for some way to stay relevant due to her floundering and paltry re-election 2023 campaign. BTW, we have a nitwit for a supt of police*, that replaced the previous nitwit superintendent who also supported our obtuse nitwit states attorney.
(*who once locked arms with radical activists to join in on their protest march that shut down a major interstate)

One takeaway is that these major cities are now calling Gun Violence a major Health Crisis. When you have a gubmint declared a health crisis you have unlimited gubmint overreach and eventually limits to freedoms. Think 2A and fundamental transformation.
 
I am so glad I live way down here in the South end of the state. There must be something in the water up there in the NE corner of the state . ☹️
 
You know what papa.I lived & worked in the Chicago area all my life.Except for my time in the Marines. There was a time when despite that fact that cook (crook) county was majority democrat.The collar counties mostly remained mixed.In recent years those collar counties have gone democrat.Truth be told.With cook & the collar counties now solid democrat.There arent enough votes in the rest of the state to swing the vote.So it is what it is.Too bad the rest of Illinois other then those counties can't form another state.I moved soon as I retired.

When we had a Gov. elected while winning only 3 counties I knew it was a lost cause.
 
I think that anyone with a pulse could run against little lord fatboy and take the governor position. People hate that man and rightfully so. Beetlejuice, she needs to be swapped out. And as Papa and H Greener so delicately stated, nothing will change till we stop pussyfooting around the race card. Fire and police commission have been dumbed down for decades. Can't promote a white guy, too many. As a result there have to be set asides for minorities. Just like our recent supreme court nominee. You can't get the most qualified, you have to get the most qualified of a certain demographic or color or ethnicity or disability. I've recently heard that they are lowering the hiring criteria for patrolmen and firefighters yet again. The people's republic of Illinois is a lost cause. Those of us stuck here can't get out cuz the suck is so strong.
