I know folks that like to reload Gold Dot have some difficulties and Supposedly Sooner has restricted sales to companies like underwood because they can’t keep up with their own demand.

And I have listened as Steve Shields the owner of High Desert Cartridge state he has to shot down production for almost a whole day to change calibers because he has 6 loading machines and only a couple folks working as he is a small but very quality outfit.

So it’s not just you. We have our pet bullets and such but sometimes have to do a plan B,C or D

yeah, i get thier 9mm copper plated..their 45 ACP is a little higher than some others i am looking at.

that's just it..i had several "back up" places to shop, but i did delete a few as well, mostly due to pricings and shipping costs.

so yes, if Plan A is not gonna do it, move on...true.

Yup. Copper and brass (aka Copper alloy) are thinning out and more recycling will be necessary on these metals. We'll need to strengthen our ties with South America in the meantime.

There's a surplus of Lead. Mostly in Australia.

Tariffs are just a fart in the wind.

if i had more finances than i do now as a retired person on Social Insecurity, and a small "pension", i'd certainly stock up on the calibers i reload with coated bullets for sure....(9mm, 45 ACP). even the wife's winnings at the Bingo place help out, but its really her money, so i don't ask her for much.

my revolver bullets will be lead, *as that's what i have now) and frankly i just do not shoot revolvers all that much, so actually, new ammo would be better. i have 9mm copper coated that i can use for .38 special..but my 45 Colt lc is lead.

i reload at "my convenience" , not at the convenience of when someone can supply the bullets, so as mentioned having back up plans is necessary

the mom/pop gun and bait shop, i used to go to, casts lead bullets.

its daunting, from what i have seen

you need ventilation, you need to be mindful of lead levels in your blood.

the owner told me lead bars are not always available.

so you'd need to scrounge repair garages for the lead wheel weights.

but, that lead they get to sell to a recycler, so that can be difficult to "just get you some"

one of the best ways to get "free lead"..??

an indoor shooting club........they pay to get rid of the built up lead in the trough (??) where the bullets end up, after smashing into the back wall..

Well if your 45’s are non pou rifling there’s always the option of casting your own. Nothing wrong with. Lead semi wad cutter or round nose in a 45 acp

I found a box of .38 158s in my cabinet after running out of 125s. I really didn't want to change over to another caliber anyway.

i just got 350 rds of the red poly-coated bullets done, still have maybe at least 50 more to go, before i start in on the new Everglades bullets

after a while my back feels the pains of being hunched over the press, to check the powder drops.

I had a good friend that ran a lead bullet business for many years. I got most of my bullets from him at good prices. I even scrounged the old lead wheel weights from work and traded with him. But sadly a few years ago the lead levels in his blood got so high that he was forced to retire and shut down the business.
Wheel weights haven't been made of lead for over 10 years now. EPA made them stop making them.

well that is the primary reason that i stopped buying lead bullets.

my blood lead level reached over 32-33 points(??)

it has taken me now nearly 3 years to get it down to under 10.

i will not know if it is any lower until my next blood test.

the next reason why i do not buy lead bullets anymore, is due to all the dang smoke they create when shooting.

sure i paid less for lead bullets, but at the cost of my lead levels, which i simply will not continue with them

I have a crap load of .45 ACP jacketed bullets, some round nose and some hollow points I got off my doctor. I need to load and shoot them, but end up shooting at matches which require lead bullets. We usually end up shooting matches on the weekend instead of shooting at the public range. That's when we can draw from holsters and shoot as quick as we want/can.
