Non-lethal EDC kit

A few weeks ago I received a nice smallish OD sling pack for renewing my TU membership. When I got here I saw it wasn't set up for fishing like a vest but it had three compartments in which to put stuff. I started to think what to do with it.

BTW-manufacturers like 5.11 offer sling packs (one shoulder sling vs two like on a backpack) in various sizes.

Since I live in a normal, peaceful part of "Fly Over America" not infested with the vermin currently infesting several large cities, and causing chaos in the US, my EDC is minimal.

But since I do travel and one never knows when some of those vermin may show up and go bonkers in my area I decided to equip my new sling pack with some additional self-defense gear.

In the main compartment, I have;
  1. a extendable baton,
  2. a bear spray canister,
  3. a small first aid kit,
  4. a carabiner,
  5. a multi-tool,
  6. several long zip ties;
In the next smaller compartment, I have;
  1. small flashlight with strobe,
  2. a package of wet wipes,
  3. a small package of Kleenex in a zip lock,
  4. a zip lock with 3 blue med masks and 2 N95 (US made) masks,
  5. a zip lock with some folded blue paper shop towels, and a
  6. whistle.
In the smallest zip compartment, I have;
  1. a small compass, and a
  2. small bottle of Purell.
Another carabiner is attached to D-ring on the top to help secure the main compartment zipper, and for potential immediate use.

There's some room left for some small items plus there's MOLLE capability for at least one small additional vertical pouch on the sides which I'll likely add to hold a hard case for eye wear.

I treat all my EDC gear in various modular levels so this puts this sling pack into the mix. I think the rigged-out sling pack is small and unobtrusive enough not to ring any alarm bells when being carried in an urban setting.

Looks nice Talyn (y)

Nice edc bag, and the "Trout..." wording/logo probably helps lower the "tactical" look for those citizens that might be apprehensive of a military-in-appearance (in their opinions) bag. I recently bought the 5.11 Push Pack sling bag, and use it as a quick makeshift tackle bag, and when walking the pup around the local park. It also has a CC zippered pocket for off-body carry when desired. I ord'd what was available at the time (od grn), but will probably order another one in black, just to detract from the "military" look, and fall more into the "gray man" appearance.
