The US government banned the importing of guns from China on May 26, 1994. This effectively stopped the importation of most firearms from China, although some exceptions, like shotguns, might have been allowed.

This is true, I believe it was 2003 Norinco was banned which is one of the reasons the Norinco Makarov is a rather rare model.

True, they were banned…but they brought in a LOT of them while they could. IIRC, they could be gotten for around $100 back in the day.

While they aren’t as common as a Bulgy, they aren’t nearly as desirable as an E. German.
