Sorry to hear that. I feel a little of what you are experiencing. My son was scheduled for a safety class in order to obtain his pistol permit. I was going with him as a refresher. That was all shut down so he can't even put in an application for his permit. We are in a holding pattern like you.Ny has banned gun sales and is being sued by the NRA. The Democrates in NY set a court hearing for sometime in June so it looks like I might not be getting the M1A I ordered for quite sometime.
If they had no viable reason to stop him except for being an “out of state driver”A guy I know was driving through NY to see a family friend. Being out of state the police stopped him. He had a revolver and the cops asked to search his car and he allowed them. They found the revolver and he got charged for each individual bullet he had due to the fact they were hollow points. It was, and still is a big deal. The laws of NY, NJ and CA are an absolute joke and other states are watching.
Yes, they said his tag light was out. NY has a hard on for outta towners. He was not up to date with the hollow points, which was his fault and he knows it but he felt he was ok and instead of causing further delay he allowed them to search the car. They would have searched the car whether he said yes or no. It would have just been a matter of time.If they had no viable reason to stop him except for being an “out of state driver”
He had no reason to allow them to search his vehicle without a warrant. This goes back to knowing the laws in each state when you may be traveling through them.
When I travel to Connecticut I stop in Pennsylvania and unload my weapons, place the gun in one place and the ammunition somewhere else, usually somewhere in the bed of the truck, this way the gun can not be loaded quickly.
The best way to avoid any issues.
NY suspects everything, so all will be probable cause?Yes, they said his tag light was out. NY has a hard on for outta towners. Go direct to SCOTUS, NY does not collect any more fed aid.
Yup, especially living here in the Northeast, you have to know each State's gun laws. Likewise, if I wanted to drive from PA. to NC, I'd need to do the same before venturing through Maryland (Virginia, I'd have to check every hour, since they're adding anti 2A laws hourly it seems). I have PA. and Utah carry permits, so I need to know the States that honor these. It's getting more difficult with the Utah permit, as several States will only recognize it, if you are a resident of the State of Utah (which now is the restriction in my State of PA. for recognizing Utah, unfortunately). If they had no viable reason to stop him except for being an “out of state driver”
