Oh. My. Glob. 10mm is fun...

So I went to the range today. I was finally able to throw some 10mm down range.

I have a Glock 21. I picked up a 10mm conversion barrel and guide rod/spring.

It was a little spicy, but I liked it. I even ran some .40 S&W through it just to see how it would go.

From my G21 10mm hits about 3" high. Where the .45 is POA/POI. The only cycling issues I had were with the .40. Even then it wasn't bad for plinking.

Time to seek out a 10mm. Who makes one in a 1911 format, with a rail and ready for a red dot.

20mm is fun, but…try a real magnum sometime if you really wanna have some REAL fun…;)

Dan Wesson, I believe makes a railed 10w/optics cut; perhaps Kimber as well. RIA makes a doublestack railed 10mm, but no optics cut…however, at under $900, you could get it cut for less than most other options.

By the bye: .40 in a 10mm isn’t a particularly good idea. The round doesn’t headspace correctly, and you’re asking for a kaBoom.

I have a Sig P320 X10 with Holosun and a Glock Gen5 G20MOS... both have optics and rails and are so much fun

With the option of getting a 10 barrel for a g41 (I know you have the g21) there's a big difference in slide weight. The 21 has typically the same factory weight as the 20 and 40, but the 41 has the same slide profile as the 17, 31 and 22 (minus the length difference). A heavier spring would most likely be needed. What spring weight did you go with for the conversion? I'd need to recheck as I think my gen4's use the same spring weight in both 20 and 21? I'd probably go up 2-4 #'s in spring weight over the 21 especially if the barrel is fluted. Not sure what barrel weight alone is between a carbon steel and stainless is as a heavier barrel will stay locked longer using the same weighted spring (this also depends on who manufactured the barrel).

The spring you have in the 21 for the 10 conversion is a reason the gun didn't go kaboom. Still probably not a good idea to shoot 40 in a 10. Also, not a good idea to shoot 357sig in a 40s&w also. I did this purely by accident and did bounce down the barrel to hit the target at 50 yards.

There's more weight in a polymer-pistol (Glocks) slide than there is in a all-metal 10mm 1911 so that tames down the 10mm more than in a 10mm 1911. It's all about physics.

Plus, the slide on a G20 is a little heavier than the G21 slide , an with the 10mm that is more powerful than a .45 acp bumping up to a 20 lb. recoils spring (G21 = 17 lb.) would be best.

Also, conversion barrels between the G21 and G20 have differences in the chamber hood width. The 10mm barrel hoods are about 0.427" wide at the back. The .45 ACP is about 0.480", so a 10mm conversion barrel has the same width as the .45, and visa versa if going from 10mm to .45.

A G21 10mm conversion barrel looks the same as this .45 acp factory barrel in a G21.

Also, if you want to shoot .40 S&W get another conversion barrel that fits the hood width of either the G20 or G21.

Also, G40 barrels will fit in a G20 but stick out, and the same applies to the G41/G21.

Haven't tried any of those combos, but a 20 barrel (aftermarket) extended will not fit into a 40 (as far as the 1's I have don't). As far as a 20 fitting into a 40 (6.02"), the 20 (4.6") is 1.42" shorter. I'll try the extended 20's and check on fitment in the 40 and post findings.

In reference to the chart, it's obvious that a standard-length G20 barrel could not work in a G40 slide.
Barrel diameter at end of slide is .6295" which is the same on 20, 21 & 40, but 41 is smaller and just slightly larger than 22/31/17's. Hood is wider on 10's than 45's (as @Talyn ) posted. So, if the barrel is long enough you can fit 20/21/40 barrels into each's slide, but restricted by hood width.

Glock 21 is 45ACP
Glock 20 is 10 mm Auto
So what did you buy?
A 21 in 45 then bought a 10 mm barrel?
Yup. And a heavier RSA. So far no issues with the extraction. That is something I was told may happen and would require a G20 extractor.

I got the info off of Glock talk. The .40 in a 10 I got from an IPSC shooter. The aftermarket barrel is fully supported and a lot of shooters run .40 in their 10's. Just clean real well when you are done.
