Article about the differences between trench guns and riot guns. Interesting, so what is the difference? Well the article helped me somewhat understand, with its comparison between the two (since me being a novice and all when it comes to shotguns).

I'm not much of a pump action user, but it can be a controlled fed as don't use the action to chamber another round. I would say more reliable, but I've seen several fail. Semi's can have the same issue also, but Benelli is the game changer. Both should be a more aimed shot! You don't want any wasted/missed shots.

Great article. I've enjoyed shooting shotguns for years, but I don't know nearly as much about their specific uses as I do for rifles and handguns. Growing up, my friends and I simply knew them as "hunting" shotguns and "home-defense" shotguns. These designations were awarded based almost solely on barrel length. Even while I carried one during my LEO career, we just referred to them as "duty" shotguns. 12 gauge shotguns are inherently versatile, so I never got too bogged down in awarding them specific titles.

I’ve shot a pump Browning BPS for 30 yrs…
I can make that pump work as fast as my semi auto buddies guns in the duck blind.
Pure muscle memory and no thought
I believe that. I’ve got years on pumps too, including the BPS. And most people aren’t as well trained. I can’t run any pump as fast as my Beretta though. No one can. Benelli was a game changer, but Beretta wasn’t far behind. So far I have been unable to induce a malfunction of any kind and it’s the fastest cycling shotgun ever made.
